Chapter 245 - The man had obviously lost some weight, and became darker. (3)

Mother Jiang’s call did not do much to Jiang MingYuan. The three of them proceeded to getting ready to return to City S after breakfast the next day.

They had already picked a vacation location. It was a tropical island that was famed for being a good tourist spot. Jiang MingYuan had everything planned out and wanted his family to have the best vacationing experience.

They arrived home in the afternoon and planned to take the flight at night. Nevertheless, right before their department, Jiang MingYuan received another call.

It was a work call and the relaxed look disappeared from his face after the call and he said to Cheng Huan, “I apologize. I might not be able to accompany you on this trip.”

“It’s fine. We can go on vacation anytime. You go take care of your work.” Work was, of course, more important than having fun. Cheng Huan didn’t say much and quickly packed up for him and accompanied him downstairs.

The chauffeur was already waiting downstairs and, looking at the person getting into the car, Cheng Huan asked, worried, “It’s not that serious, is it?”

“Nothing too serious.” Jiang MingYuan comforted her. “Don’t worry.”

Jiang MingYuan had downplayed it a lot.

The incident took place at a tourist area development located in Country I. Country I had just experienced the worse typhoon in ten years. A crane was blown down and hit two passersby.

This was a very unfortunate incident for the Jiang’s Corporation as well. They had already halted the project when they learned of the typhoon and added extra security measures to the equipment. All precautions were in place.

The power of the typhoon had exceeded expectations and nobody expected there would be people wandering around on the streets in this weather. The combination of the most powerful typhoon and fearless pedestrian had led up to this tragic incident.

Normally speaking, the Jiang Corporation would just have to pay the compensations and that was exactly what the person in charge had done. The problem arose when the incident took place right before the country’s election and the two opposing political parties were at each other’s throats all day long. The Jiang Corporation’s tourist district project was part of the political achievement of the party currently in power and had been attacked by the opposing party all along. They would not be able to remain silent on this incident.

The opposing party had been riling up the emotions of the public using this incident in order to put pressure on the party in power. The Jiang Corporation’s hotel project had to come to a halt and, with their massive investment on this project, each day that it was delayed was a big loss to them. As such, the big boss of the Jiang Corporation had to go there in person to negotiate.

This was not the first time that Jiang MingYuan ran into something like this. He was well experienced. The first thing that he did was to go and comfort the family of the deceased and offered up additional compensation. The amount was enough for most to envy. When that was done, he reached out to the representatives of both political parties and urged them to not drag the Jiang Corporation into this.

Truth was, neither party objected too much to the project. Their country was small and not very developed industrially or possessed mines of any sort. They relied heavily on tourism to boost their income and, once the Jiang Corporation’s resort was completed, it would make their country that much more appealing to tourists.

That being said, the politicians would do whatever it was that they deemed necessary during the election. Jiang MingYuan went back and forth between the two parties and spent a lot of time and effort before he was able to have them dropped the resort as a subject.

By now, the New Year holidays were almost over.

“When will you be coming home?” asked Cheng Huan on her video call with Jiang MingYuan while sitting crossed legged on the couch and munching on strawberries. With all the running around, the man had obviously lost some weight and became a few shades darker. She felt bad for him. “I will make you some nutritious food when you return.”

“Soon.” The man pinched between his brows and his weariness was obvious. “I need to meet up with a few others tomorrow and I can head back after that. Don’t stay up too late and don’t worry about me.”
