Chapter 107 -  "I have the same nightmare almost every night." (1)

Jiang Chong trembled as he changed into his suit, put on his tie, and gave Dr. Shen a call. He asked for some fever suppressant and a thermometer before he quickly headed toward where Lu JingYan’s helicopter.

Seeing Jiang Chong walking toward them, Chi Ying opened up the cabin door for him. Jiang Chong was frowning a little, his face looking stern, and he was dressed tidily. He was no longer the lackadaisical person that he was just a while earlier.

“Dr. Shen is already on his way and will be here shortly.” Jiang Chong sounded apologetic. He peeked inside and saw Boss Lu who was lying quietly on the seat. He was startled. Boss Lu didn’t look well at all. He almost drowned by his overwhelming guilt. He had always taken his work very seriously all these years. Never would he had imagined he’d make such an self-righteous mistake.

“Dr. Shen is Boss Lu’s personal doctor?” asked Chi Ying.

“Sort of. But Boss Lu had always been very healthy so he didn’t see him a lot.” Maybe once every few years.

“You said he hasn’t been sleeping well?”

“Yes.” Even though Jiang Chong was saying that, but he wasn’t sleeping with Boss Lu after all. He merely speculated that from the dark circles under his eyes. Chi Ying spent a night with Boss Lu and, if she asked that, Boss Lu must be sleeping very poorly.

Chi Ying recalled how Lu JingYan was bothered by his nightmare and was still a bit worried.

“Perhaps Dr. Shen can also check on his sleeping issue when he’s here,” said Chi Ying.

“Why don’t you return with us, Miss Chi? It will be better if you tell the Dr. Shen about Boss Lu’s situation when he arrives.”

“Has my production team left yet?”

“Not yet. The flight was delayed due to weather and they spent an extra night here.”

“I haven’t packed my suitcase yet and the production team had already purchased my ticket. I think it’s better I head back with them,” said Chi Ying. “But feel free to give me a call if you need me for anything after you have returned.”

Chi Ying was more reasonable than usual. Jiang Chong was both surprised and appreciative. “Alright. Thank you, Miss Chi.”

Chi Ying fed some of the fever suppressant to Lu JingYan and she left after he started sweating and looking better.

She wanted to give Chi Cheng and Jing Zheng a call as soon as possible. Life without a working cellphone was too inconvenient. They must be worried after they were not able to get ahold of her for an entire night. Once everything was settled, she would go back to help out should Lu JingYan need her for any reasons.

***

The name of Lu JingYan’s doctor was Shen Jin. He graduated Harvard Medical School ten years ago and looked very scholarly with his rounded spectacles.

Shen Jin was told by Jiang Chong that Lu JingYan suffered from poor sleep quality. Judging from the information provided to him, he had originally thought that Lu JingYan’s condition was caused by pressure from work and sleep deprivation.

Yet, Lu JingYan, who had yet woken up with his fever allowed Shen Jin to witness how unsettled Lu JingYan was in his sleep and realized that the matter wasn’t as simple as he had originally thought.

By the time Lu JingYan opened up his eyes, he was already lying in his familiar room inside of the Lu’s resident. Clear liquid dripped in the windy tube. His arm was pale and slender and his veins were visible.

Without the girl from the night before next to him, he felt a moment of emptiness. What happened the night before seemed to be a dream.

Seeing that he had woken up, Shen Jin helped him up and poured him a glass of warm water.

“You haven’t been sleeping well lately?” he asked.

Lu JingYan frowned a little. Dr. Shen might have noticed the abnormality when he slept. He did not deny it but nodded and said, “Yes.”

“You are having a lot of nightmares?”

“Yes, almost the same one every night.”

Shen Jin was a little stunned and he asked tentatively, “Do you mind describing it to me?”

Lu JingYan’s face dropped.

As though he could see though Lu JingYan, Shen Jin said in a serious tone, “Don’t worry. I will not share it with anyone else.”
