Chapter 493- Something happened to the Su family. (1)

Tong Zhenzhen smiled and said, “We are not related by blood, per se. But the two of us share a very special bond. This goes way back to when we were children……”

She then told the story about how the two were kidnapped as children and were later on found by cops but then returned to the wrong family to Gu Yilan. She did not mention a word about how Tong Xuelu had her sent to the ranch.

Gu Yilan was shocked by the story. “Wow, I will never imagine that you two share such a bond. Comrade Tong is my son’s savior. What a small world.”

Tong Zhenzhen smiled and nodded. “The world is so small indeed. Am I right, Big Sister Xuelu?”

Things could change so fast in a very small amount of time.

Tong Xuelu felt that Tong Zhenzhen had truly changed a lot. Tong Zhenzhen had always gone down the white lotus and nice person path, but she wasn’t smooth enough.

It would seem that she had really honed her skills. No more awkwardness could be seen. Anyone who didn’t know better would really think that the two of them were close.

Tong Xuelu smiled and said, “We both live in Capital City. It’s only natural that we run into each other from time to time.”

Gu Yilan sudden frowned. “Wait. But with that bond between us, why is it that I did not see you or your family the day of Comrade Tong’s engagement?”

Tong Zhenzhen put on the perfect amount of embarrassment. “Big Sister Xuelu did not invite my family. But I did have a friend from the Compound bring with her my well wishes. You did get that, didn’t you, Big Sister Xuelu?”

Gu Yilan frowned even more. She looked at Tong Xuelu disapprovingly. “Commander Xiao, this is not my place but Zhenzhen’s parents had raised you for almost 2 decades. You should at least let them know that you are getting engaged. It would seem ungrateful that you didn’t.”

Tong Xuelu snickered to herself.

That was exactly why she could not be friends with Gu Yilan.

Of course she could fool and appease Gu Yilan. But she was so stupid that Tong Xuelu couldn’t even be bothered with it.

Besides, given her current status, there is no need for her to win over NPCs like she had to earlier in time.

A look of complacent flashed through Tong Zhenzhen’s eyes. She, however, said, “You shouldn’t say that about Big Sister Xuelu, Big Sister Yilan. She has her reasons.”

Gu Yilan covered her mouth. “You’ve been to the ranch, Zhenzhen? When was that?”

Tong Zhenzhen turned pale instantly, “I……”

Tong Xuelu, too, covered her mouth and put on a shock look. “Oh, she didn’t tell you? She hit Mianmian in the middle of the street and she twisted her ear so hard that it drew blood. She also threatened to kill me and was finally sent to the ranch to reform. She only returned recently.”

Gu Yilan, “……”

Tong Zhenzhen, “……”

Tong Xuelu, “Because of all these incidents, our two families really aren’t that close. That’s why we have an unstated understanding that we will not have a lot of interactions with each other.”

Gu Yilan pulled her hand out from Tong Zhenzhen and gave an embarrassed smile. “It just occurred to me that I have something that I need to take care of at work. I will have to take a rain check on the shopping.”

Having said that, she said goodbye to Tong Xuelu and ran away so fast that she could be chased by ghosts.

Tong Xuelu raised her brows, “Oh? You are giving up your front now? To think that you were doing such a good job just a little while ago.”

Tong Zhenzhen looked at her through gritted teeth. “Aren’t you curious what I meant by the message that I had Fang Jingyuan relate to you?”

Tong Xuelu blinked her limpid almond eyes and looked perplexed. “You congratulated me and wished that my fiancé and I will live happily ever after. There’s more to it than that?”

Tong Zhenzhen stared at her intensely but couldn’t read anything on Tong Xuelu. “Oh, stop faking. You know exactly what I meant by that!”

Tong Xuelu shook her head, “No, I really don’t.”

Tong Zhenzhen was so angry that she said, “You are re……”

Half way through her sentence, she suddenly bit down on her lips, turned, and left.

Looking at Tong Zhenzhen’s back, Tong Xuelu frowned again.

She wasn’t worried about Tong Zhenzhen. Tong Zhenzhen plus Yan Yongan, however, were messier.

She needed to meet up with Su Yueshen as soon as possible.
