That night, Fang Jingyuan visited Tong Xuelu’s restaurant with a pout.

Seeing the way she looked, Tong Xuelu asked curiously, “Who annoyed you this time?”

Fang Jingyuan chewed on the beef as she said viciously, “Let me tell you. My mom said she is going to set me up with a young, accomplished young man today or tomorrow. She described him as good looking as Pan Yue and extremely talented. She also said that I would never find someone better if I missed out on him. Do you know who she was talking about?”

Tong Xuelu, “I thought you said you would only date ugly men in the future?”

Fang Jingyuan was speechless for a second. Then, blushing, she said, “I was just rambling at the time because I was irritated. I thought about it some more later on. If I find myself an ugly man, what if my future kids are ugly like him? After much consideration, I’ve decided that I will still need to find someone attractive. But that was not the point. The point is, do you know who showed up?”

Tong Xuelu rolled her eyes. “Don’t tell me it was Xiao Chengping.”

DONG!

The beef meatball that Fang Jingyuan was holding up fell onto the table. She looked at Tong Xuelu in shock. “Xuelu, you are so amazing. How did you guess?”

Tong Xuelu, “Oh, just randomly.”

Fang Jingyuan looked at her with admiration. “Just randomly? You are so incredible! You are exactly right! The man who showed up at my arranged date was none other than Xiao Chengping. Never mind about being talented. But as handsome as Pan Yue? Are you kidding me? Did she see his beady little eyes? Even mung beans are bigger than his eyes!”

Tong Xuelu, “……”

The more Fang Jingyuan thought about it, the more irritated she became. She picked up another meatball and bit into it forcefully. “Xiao Chengping is not a good looking man himself. And he said that my forehead is too tall. Oh my gosh. I am so annoyed!”

Tong Xuelu, “Now that’s just double standard. If you can say that he’s ugly, why can’t he pick on you?”

Fang Jingyuan had no idea what “double standard” meant. But she did get the latter part of what Tong Xuelu had said. “Xuelu, are you my friend or his? How can you defend Xiao Chengping!”

Tong Xuelu said, “Oh right. Had your brother been out of town recently?”

Fang Jingyuan looked shocked again. “How did you know? Yeah, my brother had gone on a business trip. He won’t be back till next week.”

Tong Xuelu nodded. “No wonder.” No wonder Fang Wanyuan did not tell her about Tong Zhenzhen joining the Women’s Federation.

Fang Jingyuan asked curiously, “No wonder what?”

Tong Xuelu shook her head. “It’s nothing. Oh right, did Tong Zhenzhen join the Women’s Federation?”

Fang Jingyuan was taken aback a little, then shook her head. “Not that I have heard. Did she join the Women’s Federation? Where did you hear that from?”

Welp. That’s it. It didn’t seem that she would be able to get any useful information from Fang Jingyuan.

That weekend, Tong Xuelu took time off again and headed over to the Su’s with Xiao Mianmian in tow.

Thank goodness. Su Yueshen was finally home this time.

As soon as Xiao Jiu and Xiao Mianmian saw each other, the two immediately got together with each other like long lost friends who hadn’t seen each other for years.

Xiao Mianmian said in her milky voice, “Let me tell you, Xiao Jiu. I changed my surname. My name is not Tong Mianmian anymore. I am not Xiao Mianmian.”

Xiao Jiu’s mouth formed into an “O”. Then he patted Xiao Mianmian on her head like a little adult. “It doesn’t matter what your surname is. You will always be my Big Sister Mianmian!”

Xiao Mianmian smiled so much that her eyes resembled new moons. “Xiao Jiu, good boy.”

Everybody laughed at the children’s talk.

After some exchange of pleasantry, Tong Xuelu said, “There is something that I want to talk to you about work. Is now a good time for you?”

Su Yueshen was taken aback a little but he quickly nodded. “Sure, let’s go to my study.”

Having said that, he got up and showed Tong Xuelu to his study.

As they were of opposite gender, they left the door to the study cracked open. Tong Xuelu, too, looked for a spot that was further away from him when she took a seat.

Su Yueshen, “What is it that you want to talk to me about, Comrade Tong?”
