Chapter 153 -  He Didn't Want XingXing to be Disappointed in Him (2)

“You can’t pick the coconuts on the side of the road,” said Cheng Huan before Jiang MingYuan was able to come up with what to say. “If XingXing wants coconut we can buy some. The coconuts on the side of the road were planted by someone else. If we pick them, we will be stealing and stealing from others are wrong, right?”

“Mmm!”

“Plus, the coconut trees are so tall and they didn’t have any safety equipment. If they fall, they will be hurt. Can you imagine how much that’d hurt?”

XingXing nodded without fully comprehending what Cheng Huan had said. “But the others picked them.”

Cheng Huan placed her hand on his shoulder and said to him seriously, “We can’t do something wrong just because many others are doing it. We can try and stop them when we come across it, but now imitate them.”

“Oh.” The little kiddo nodded, then said, “Then let’s go back to stop the big brother from picking the coconuts then!”

Cheng Huan, “……”

Cheng Huan gave Jiang MingYuan at the driver’s seat a look. Seeing her look behind him, his lips curved upward some but he agreed. “Okay, we will go and stop them.”

They have already driven past them for a while now and it’d be too much hassle to walk back to where they were. They would need to turn the car around. Jiang MingYuan let Cheng Huan and XingXing out of the car first before he waited until the road is clear to turn it around.

When the mother and son got back into the car, Cheng Huan first helped XingXing into the car before she climbed back in front the other side. She was a bit speechless. “Don’t you think you are being a little too careful?”

“This car is not that safe.” Jiang MingYuan repeated his same line. He started the car, drove for a little while, and added, “And my driving is not great either.”

After all, he had a chauffeur that drove him around and he hasn’t drove a car for a long time.

“I think they are already gone,” said Cheng Huan to XingXing, who was looking around.

XingXing looked again and, after he was sure that they were gone, finally looked up pouting, “They didn’t even wait for us.”

Cheng Huan chuckled and stroke him on his head. “Perhaps they needed to be somewhere. Next time we see someone picking coconuts, we will go stop them right away, okay?”

“Okay,” XingXing nodded and reached out his arms so his mother could carry him into the car. He then said to Jiang MingYuan in the driver’s seat, “Let’s go, Daddy. I want to have coconuts.”

***

XingXing paid a lot of attention to the side of the road on the remainder of their trip but they didn’t run into anyone else picking coconuts again. The three of the arrived at the beach 15 minutes later.

The beach on Red Coral Island was over 10 km long. The sand was fine and the waves were steady. The water was a clear blue color and even the sky looked clearer than it looked anywhere else.

There were not a lot of tourists on the beach and most of them were in short sleeves and shorts. Only a few of them were in bikinis. As for long sleeves and long pants, so far Jiang MingYuan was the only one.

There are also car rental places next to the beach and Jiang MingYuan went to return his car. When he got back, XingXing had already taken his shoes off and sat on the sand in his bare feet.

The sand was soft and each step would leave a footprint behind. XingXing had a lot of fun with it. He saw kids in front building a sandcastle and wanted to do that as well. He had just taken one step forward when his mother had stopped him.

“Wait, let’s go get a set of clothes for daddy first.” Cheng Huan, holding XingXing in her hand, smiled at the man who was walking toward them. “Do you think that daddy is wearing too much?”

XingXing looked at the floral shorts on himself, pushed up the rim on his hat, and looked the black pants on his father. He nodded in agreement, “Daddy must be very hot.”

Jiang MingYuan was feeling a little hot. There were no shades on the beach and the sun was beating down on them. His skin, even through the clothes, was burning. The sun was blinding. Jiang MingYuan, without any shades on, could barely keep his eyes open.

Squinting, he heard Cheng Huan saying in a low voice as he walked close to her, “We will need to get one more thing.”

“What?”

“I said we’ll go get you some clothes.” Cheng Huan patted her son for him to go hold his father’s hand as she walked toward one direction. “There’s a shop over there. Let’s go take a look.”
