“Really?” The server was still suspicious. He pulled out his cellphone. “I have our boss’s number here. Do you want to give her a call?”
“No! No need!” He didn’t want to “alarm” her before he had it figured out yet. He quickly stopped the server from making the call and made up another excuse under the dubious look of the server. “I’ll just see for myself. It’d be awkward if I was wrong.”
“I won’t think that’s a big deal.”
“Aye, you don’t understand.” He put on a troubled look as though there was more to the story. Sure enough, once he did that, the server gave up on it.

After days of waiting, Li KangYi’s patience was mostly gone and no longer wanted to keep on waiting. Once he had confirmed that Cheng Huan would be there for sure, he straight up took a day off and came early in the day.
His effort did not go in vain this time. He saw a pretty woman walking inside of the restaurant at around 10 AM.
There weren’t a lot of customers at the time and it was obvious when people walked in and out. Li KangYi didn’t really remember what Cheng Huan looked like but he was anxious when he saw a well-dressed person walking straight toward the kitchen.
He had a good feeling about it and, when he saw Cheng Huan walking out and talking to the server, he was all the more certain. He was excited. He had an adrenalin rush as though he could already see himself getting promoted and a raise.
Cheng Huan did not leave after she had arrived and stayed all the way till noon. Li KangYi did not want to give himself away so he only stayed for a little while before he paid and took off. He paced back and forth in the hallway and always kept his eyes on the entrance.
As he had to keep an eye out on the person, he didn’t even dare to go to the bathroom. The person finally walked out when his bladder was about to explode. He dared not waste any time but followed her from a safe distance immediately.
There weren’t a lot of people in the shopping mall and his following her was not obvious. He followed her out of the mall and saw Cheng Huan got into a taxi. He immediately followed her in his own car.
Cheng Huan had always lived under a safe environment and never thought that she’d be followed. She took the taxi back to her district and went home, started preparing for dinner before she left to pick up XingXing.
Li KangYi, on the other hand, was stopped outside of the district and could do nothing but watched Cheng Huan walked away. He planned to wait for her outside but Cheng Huan took the back entrance to go pick XingXing up so Li KangYi waited until 10 PM and he was starving, but his effort was still fruitless.

Returning from the holidays, none of the little kids had their mind back on schoolwork. The day was long for them. Toward the end of the day, the teacher made an announcement that got their attention back – there would be a parent-child activity a week from then and they asked both parents to be there.
Parent-child activities meant playing with their parents and get to see the parents embarrassed. Naturally that idea was well-received with the children. All of the kids who had their minds elsewhere had refocused and felt that time was only passing too slowly.
They wish a week could go by faster.
Cheng Huan got the news as soon as she took XingXing from his teacher.
“Parent-child activities?”
“Uh huh!” XingXing was almost skipping on his way. “They asked that both mommy and daddy to attend together.”
“It’s not a problem for Mommy, but Daddy might not have the time.” Jiang MingYuan had mentioned that he’d be particularly busy during the period of time before year end.
“But I really want Daddy to be there.” There were longing in XingXing’s eyes. He had been to this school for a few months and there had been multiple parent-child activities already. All of the other kids’ daddies had been there except for his.
Cheng Huan didn’t want to disappoint him too much so, after some thinking, she said to him, “Then why don’t you ask Daddy tonight and see if he can come?”
“Okay!”
