Chapter 206 - "Daddy is lying. This is not money!" (1)

“Okay, I get it.” Jiang MingYuan nodded slight and didn’t even so much as to blink.

He went upstairs with XingXing and, sure enough once he pushed open the door to his office, he saw someone sitting inside of it.

As the mother of the boss, Gu MingLi had obviously been treated nicely. She had just arrived and the assistant had already brought over coffee and slice fruits. Madam Jiang, however, didn’t seem very interested in any of these. Sitting on the couch, her back was straight and her chin was lifted some. Her elegance seemed to shine through all the way from her blood.

“Mom.” Jiang MingYuan greeted her after he put XingXing down. Then he lowered his head and said to XingXing, “This is your grandmother.”

“Grandmother?” XingXing looked up dubiously at his father. “Is that Daddy’s mommy?”

He remembered that from a kid’s song that he had learned in school.

“That’s right.” Jiang MingYuan walked over while holding XingXing’s hand and said softly, “She is Daddy’s mommy. You need to call her Grandma.”

XingXing acknowledged docilely and, with his eyes opened wide, said to Gu MingLi, “Grandma.”

“Aye.” Gu MingLi was relatively tender when facing her grandson. Her lips curving upward perfectly, she reached out her well-maintained hand and pulled XingXing closer to her. “So your name is XingXing? This is Grandma first time meeting you.”

XingXing nodded and looked a little shy. It was obviously that he wasn’t too comfortable in front of his new family member.”

“You are so big already. Are you going to school?” Gu MingLi stroked XingXing on his cheek and there was tenderness in her eyes.

Jiang MingYuan said coldly from one side, “Don’t you know all those already?”

“I’m not asking you.” Gu MingLi looked up and gave her son a glance before she skipped the subject altogether. She reached inside of her purse, pulled out a red pocket, and shoved it into XingXing’s hand. “Here, this is from Grandma.”

The red pocket was very thin, obviously it was not cash that was inside of it. This was the first time XingXing received anything like it and had no idea what to do. He looked up at daddy and accepted the red pocket after his daddy had nodded at him.

After giving him the red pocket, Gu MingLi hugged XingXing and was very affectionate toward him. Jiang MingYuan stood to one side and watched them for a while. It was when Gu MingLi was about to pinch XingXing on his cheek again when he said, “Say, why are you here today?”

“Can’t I not just come and visit?” said Gu MingLi with a smile. There was a bit of complain in her voice. “I am not like you. I think about you from time to time.”

Jiang MingYuan didn’t have too much of an expression. He walked over and pulled XingXing over to him. Then, walking back behind his desk, he said, “If you are bored, you should go show your motherly love toward Third Uncle’ daughter. I need to work now.”

Their relationship had crumbled completely ever since the last incident. Jiang MingYuan had no problem hitting where it hurt when he talked.

“What are you talking about?”

Sure enough, Gu MingLi stood up immediately when she heard that and, giving him a fierce stare, she said, “There is nothing going on between your Third Uncle and I. You need to stop saying that!”

“Mmhmm.” Jiang MingYuan grunted from his nose and looked down at his documents. XingXing, standing next to him, could sense that something was off in the atmosphere. His eyes widened as he looked at his daddy who was very different from his normal self and the very angry grandmother. He shrank some more behind Jiang MingYuan.

It was then when he realized that his attitude might have scared the little boy. He put his pen down, sighed, brought XingXing in front of him and placed his arms around him. Looking up, he said calmly, “What is it that you want to talk about? You can just say it.”

He had given her the opportunity to get out of this situation and Gu MingLi took it. She put on her tender look once again and sat back down on the touch. “I am here to see the boy.”

In order to better track her son, Gu MingLi had a few “spies” in the office that she would pay an additional amount to for them to report to her on Jiang MingYuan’s whereabouts. All was well until Jiang MingYuan found some excuses and fired them all a while ago. Ever since then, it had been much more difficult for Gu MingLi to get up-to-date news.

The news of Jiang MingYuan bringing his son to work was such a shocker that Gu MingLi had found out even just sitting at home, which was why she came running over.
